The Virginia Museum of Frontier Culture in Staunton, VA should be an
excellent resource on this topic.  They have transported houses/cottages
from Northern Ireland, Germany, and England to their living history museum
to show the derivation of the American farm/home in one of the first
frontier areas of the United States, the Shenandoah Valley.

The ALHFAM Annual Conference will be hosted by them in June.  For
