Try the Texas Historical Commission's book "Archaeology in the Classroom."
It's only $7.00, and it is filled with hands on activities for archaeology
in schools.

Subject: archaeology

I'm doing a family program on archaeology for Sept. (Archaeology month) We
will have about 35 people mostly age 5-12. I'll do a sandbox dig but I'm
looking for some type of craft/project that they could take home too. Also
material on archaeology for this young a crowd any ideas? I do have some
money I can spend on this event so hands on manipulative ideas would be
good. Thank you
