I have to agree with this--a loan made to a museum in the 1930s for an
unspecified time that's still in the museum is still on loan, no matter
how much time has gone by.  "Abandoned property" may come into play if
material was simply left on your doorstep overnight, but for pieces in
your collection, chances are somebody actually brought it in, and
somebody else agreed to keep it (for however long, or for whatever
purpose)--it likely wasn't "abandoned."

No, no, no.

Just becuase it has been in a museum's possession for decades does not
mean it belongs to that museum and that a state's laws regarding
abandoned property are not in effect.
