I have to agree with this--a loan made to a museum in the 1930s for an unspecified time that's still in the museum is still on loan, no matter how much time has gone by. "Abandoned property" may come into play if material was simply left on your doorstep overnight, but for pieces in your collection, chances are somebody actually brought it in, and somebody else agreed to keep it (for however long, or for whatever purpose)--it likely wasn't "abandoned." ------------------------------------------------------------ Tim McShane, Assistant--Cultural History Medicine Hat Museum and Art Gallery 1302 Bomford Crescent S.W. Just becuase it has been in a museum's possession for decades does not mean it belongs to that museum and that a state's laws regarding abandoned property are not in effect.
