Karen, some years ago, I was with a team that exhibited, in situ, various aspects, and consequences, of preservation methods conducted on the museum's collection. This was some time ago, but I do recall that what seemed to capture the attention of both visitors and the press, was an indication (in different ways) of not only what had been done (various conservation methods) but why this conservation had been done, and why it might be relevant to visitors of all ages who came to see the exhibit. In other words, it had been important for the exhibition to indicate why a process might have been used, but also, why visitors should be aware of these various methods and their consequences. Whether it has a collection of objects, or an idea, visitors like to know what a museum-like organization is doing, why something should be exhibited, and why they should visit it. As well, there are many ways that an exhibit might be a good experience, relevant, and memorable, for visitors, and any topic should keep those basic exhibition strategies/needs in mind, regardless of the topic.
