Jeff, you have received good suggestions as to where to look for information or suggestions about the organizational structure of a museum. I would repeat the suggestion that your group must consider the museum's vision/mission, as well as the various ethical, legal and professional standards it would want to have/meet, its already existing structure (from a board on through), the number of employees it might reasonably expect to have within a structural framework and timeline, a possible business plan(?), etc., etc., and, also very important, the audience/community demographics, needs, and expectations that your museum would want to serve/expect. A structure could then be developed that reflects underlying ambitions and circumstances.
