I'm sure this issue has been discussed before although I have not seen it
recently on the list. We are planning to deaccession and dispose of a small
collection of duplicate books at the library. Several of these volumes have
not been accessioned. Frequently in the past, books were not accessioned
when accepted, or were accessioned and the paperwork has been lost. I'm
curious to hear from other institutions who have faced this issue and how
they have dealt with it. We have a collections policy, but unfortunately
this sensitive issue was not tackled when the policy was written. I would
be eager to accept any advice, or, better yet, written policies.

Thank you. (This message has also been posted on the Archives listserv.)
