Colleen,

I can only give you half the picture, since I got my MA from George
Washington in DC and I've only met one graduate of the Leicester program
stateside. Museum Studies programs, no matter where they are, are going to
be most helpful in terms of networking opportunities. I'm living in DC and
I probably wouldn't have gotten any of my local job/internship
opportunities without my GW network.

If you're looking into online programs - like Rachel Smith said - it
probably doesn't matter as much where you get your Certificate/MA. It'll be
a good line on your resume, but experience and networking opportunities in
your local area will be a better determinant of your prospects. Where did
most of the museum professionals in your area get their education? Maybe
follow their suit?

I am interested in hearing from North American professionals who hopped the
pond to go to Leicester or UCL, or UK citizens who went to GW, or Canadians
who have traveled down to the US, or Americans who have gone to Toronto, or
any combination of the above. What's been their experience?

Betsy Franz
