We have considered posting the sign that reads: “Unaccompanied children will
be given a cup of espresso and a free puppy.”

Subject: Re: [MUSEUM-L] Children without adults in museums

I don't think you would want to go so far as to specify parent and legal
guardian. Aunts, uncles, grandparents, family friends all take children on
outings to places like museums and it would be horrible for the ticket desk
to have to dictate or enforce the specific relationship of a child to their
adult. I canot tell you how mad I would be if I was told I could not take my
nieces to a museum.

Hi, Reena,
maybe a solution for the enter without parent age: Why not take the age of
your state somebody becomes legally responsible for him/herself?

For the ages before: The accompanying grownups have to be the parents /
legal guardians...

Hope this helps

Esteemed Museum Colleagues,

Do you have written policies governing whether children are allowed to enter
your facility without adults? What ages are governed? Please share
policies if you have them or share thoughts if you don't. Thanks in
advance! (I don't mean planned programs like museum schools or summer
camps--I mean general admission).
