There is still space available in Northern States Conservation Center's
last online course for 2010:*

MS007: The Mission Statement: Is it really that Important?*
*Instructor:* Peggy Schaller
*Date:* November 15 through 19, 2010
*Location: *online at www.museumclasses.org
*Cost:* $95

This short seminar meets the requirements of the Virginia Association of
Museum's Certificate in Museum Management.

*Description:*
The heart of every museum is its collection and a mission statement is
critical to preserving that collection. Participants in the Mission
Statement will discuss their mission statements and whether they really
make a difference. As a consultant to small and large museums, Ms.
Schaller has wide experience. She will help you figure out ways to make
your mission statement work for you.

*Logistics:*
Participants in The Mission Statement will read literature and
participate in two one-hour chats to discuss how a museum's mission
statement may or may not impact the daily operations. They complete
three short assignments and a small quiz. Each student should read
course materials and prepare questions or comments to share with the
other students in the chat. This is a mini-course and takes no more than
10 hours of a student's time. The end result is a mission statement
(either revised or new) for your institution.

To reserve a spot in the course, please pay at
http://www.museumclasses.org and pay at
