Ross Weeks' whole "commentary" was very well said, and
needed to be.  I have seen many small museum jobs go to
people with no formal museum training for lack of "museum
studies" candidates.  Granted the pay is not always great,
but its better experience than many get in the museum
studies programs.

Someone at AAM should publish some numbers that show how
many museums function with staffs of five or less.  These
people get to do it all, and they learn museums from top to
bottom.  Many do stay and make their museum an exciting and
educational place to visit.  Many others use their
experience as a springboard to those big city museum
positions.  I would rather hire someone with practical
hands-on experience, than one filled with theory.
