At the Higgins, every Halloween we decorate the hands-on room, the Quest
gallery, with construction-paper cut-out bats and ghosts, play spooky
music, and give free admission to kids who come in wearing costumes. Not
really a haunted house, but not exacty...umm...historically accurate either
(please refrain from posting the Celtic history of Halloween in response).
More haunted-house like is the Haunted Overknight, which is the one time
that individuals from the general public can sign up for a sleep-over in
the museum -- all the other overknights are booked as groups. It didn't
happen last year because of lack of interest -- not enough folks signed up.

As for scaring kids, well, that happens during the rest of the year: every
so often a preschooler or toddler will come up to the Great Hall and be
frightened by the dark entrance and, of course, the knights, and run away
screaming or in tears.
