 Um, yes, MANY universities besides Indiana University give a Ph.D. in
art history--Yale, Harvard, Princeton, Brown, Johns Hopkins, Boston,
Ohio, etc., etc., etc. I thought the question was about a Ph.D. in
CONTEMPORARY art. Although I'm sure many schools would permit a
dissertation on a topic in contemporary art, it might be more difficult
to find one that offers lectures and seminars, and therefore a
concentration, in the area. Surely some art museum members of this list
could recommend some universities with strengths in criticism and
"history" of contemporary art. --David Haberstich
