The possibility of arsenic being present is not the only concern in this
case. When skins are available for being touched, stroked and otherwise
handled, it is not long before the skin shows signs of wear. This includes
the actual loss of fur. Some years ago, the Alberta Museum had a beaver pelt
on display for visitor handling. Within 6 months, the pelt was bare.
