Kidspace Assistant


Williams College Museum of Art


 


Kidspace at MASS MoCA seeks applications for the full-time position of
Kidspace Assistant.  This is a 2-year full-time term position with
possibility of renewal.  Kidspace is an innovative art exhibition and
art-making space for children and families and an exciting
curriculum-based art program in six local elementary schools.  Located
in a 2,500 square foot gallery at MASS MoCA, Kidspace is a collaborative
project between the Williams College Museum of Art, the Sterling &
Francine Clark Art Institute and MASS MoCA. 


 

The assistant is responsible for helping the Associate Curator of
Kidspace with: planning and installing two exhibitions yearly;
developing educational materials for each exhibition; and conducting
programs for children, school groups and families at Kidspace and in the
schools.  The assistant oversees the after school program and weekend
staff and helps with the daily operation of the gallery.

 

Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in art, education, or a
related field and should have experience working in an art environment.
The successful candidate will work well with children, teachers,
artists, school and museum administrators, and museum visitors of all
ages.  The successful candidate will also be flexible, energetic,
creative and able to work independently as well as in teams.  Excellent
written and verbal communication skills are essential and knowledge of
Excel, Access, Adobe Illustrator & PhotoShop and HTML are a plus.  The
