I am interested in hearing from collecting institutions, in particular art museums, regarding their policy and practice for obtaining insurance values for property of others coming into the institution for gift or purchase consideration, exam, photography, or loan for exhibition...and their policy and practice for determining values for the museum's objects going out on loan. When do you permit staff to determine insurance values and when do you obtain an outside appraisal? Thank you very much.
