Another thing is to think about other alternatives. I no longer work in 
a museum (which I did for 7 years -- in different museums) and now work 
for my local Girl Scout Council coordinating programs with vendors. I 
now work with A LOT  of museums as well as other types of sites, 
programs and facilities. I love what I do, enjoy going to work -- my 
museum programming experience is a great help for what I do.

It's also nice because I really get a broad sense of what is going on 
in the museums and historic sites in my area, and can help them shape 
education programs.
