The Museum of Science and Industry is seeking an individual to be
responsible for researching and translating scientific content on nanoscale
science and nanotechnology into engaging, interactive exhibit experiences
for Museum visitors.  This individual provides creative input regarding
science content and interpretive design direction and must establish and
maintain collaborations with scientists, educators, and design resources
outside the Museum. In addition, the developer must also be able to develop,
produce and evaluate exhibit prototypes and produce summary reports for the
project team.  The work will include, but is not limited to the
following:  Research
and interpret science content related to nanoscale science and
nanotechnology.  Search out, acquire, and interpret scientific information,
technologies, images and artifacts that contribute to the development of
engaging exhibits.  Brainstorm and develop ideas for interactive
experiences.  Provide thoughtful feedback and reviews of science content and
exhibit ideas.  Establish, manage and coordinate academic
partnerships.  Produce
exhibit unit mock-ups and prototypes.  Assess exhibit ideas through
formative evaluation and testing with Museum visitors.  Assist in all
aspects of exhibit development, coordinating efforts with the project's
design partners and other team members.  Assist education team members
developing content-based programs for middle school students and teachers
that effectively utilize exhibition resources and encourage further
exploration of science concepts.

Master's or Doctoral degree in chemistry, physics or materials science with
an emphasis on nanoscale science; Two or more yeas experience developing
science-based exhibits for middle school audiences; Passion and capacity for
communicating scientific principals to a general audience, including
families, adults, teachers and students; Able to work effectively and
collaboratively in a diverse team environment; Strong ability to organize
and translate science and technology information into useful forms for
designers and other project team members; Experience performing evaluation
of exhibits and programs; Has strong project coordination and management
skills; Has excellent communication abilities:  both oral and written;
Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
