  Job Summary
  The Virginia Museum of Natural History (the Museum) is seeking a full-time Development Associate to assist with implementation of the Museum’s $9+ million capital campaign for the permanent exhibits in the Museum’s new facility in Martinsville, Virginia.  The Associate may assist with other fundraising activities of the Museum, but the capital campaign will be the primary focus, at least for the next year.   The Associate will be supervised by, and work collaboratively with, the Museum’s Director of Development and Marketing.  
   
  Job Responsibilities
  -                      Perform data entry and maintain Raiser’s Edge Database and Excel tracking sheets
  -                      Conduct research on corporations, foundations, and individuals
  -                      Draft correspondence (e.g., thank you letters, press releases, appeal letters)
  -                      Support Director of Development and Marketing with overall campaign organization and strategy
  -                      Continuously monitor, update, and maintain capital campaign timeline and work plan
  -                      Manage calendar of meetings with funders for Director of Development and Marketing
  -                      Assist with materials development and other duties for Campaign Task Force
  -                      Support cultivation and solicitation activities for Campaign Chairs and Solicitors (i.e., prepare speaking notes, develop presentation packages, distribute copies of collateral materials, etc.)
  -                      Support the Director of Development and Marketing in planning and executive fundraising events
  -                      Prepare template proposals, letters of inquiry, etc., and adapt to suit funder’s requirements/interests
  -                      Prepare and maintain mailing lists
  -                      Track and acknowledge donations
   
  Preferred Skills
  -                      Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  -                      Working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge or demonstrated ability to learn
  -                      Superior attention to detail
  -                      Strong multi-tasking ability
  -                      Strong organizational skills
  -                      Strong written and oral communication skills
  -                      Creative problem solver
  -                      Good time management skills
  -                      Ability to convert strategy into actionable plan and execute discrete tasks
