An exceptional job opportunity with the Virginia Museum of Natural History is now available. The mission of the Virginia Museum of Natural History is to interpret Virginia’s natural heritage within a global context in ways that are relevant to all the citizens of the Commonwealth. Located in beautiful southern Virginia, we are building a new museum facility slated to open in late 2006. As Editor, you will coordinate a broad range of Museum publications, including promotional, educational, and scientific. You will ensure that publications are well designed, clearly written, highly accurate, attractive, and are completed within established deadlines. Duties will include: all aspects of editing, including proofreading, writing, and production of Museum publications such as newsletters, annual reports, marketing materials, and education and exhibit guides. The selected applicant should be familiar with the use of publications and graphics software, including Adobe and Microsoft products.
A bachelor’s degree in communications or related field or equivalent experience is preferred. Experience or knowledge of graphic design and digital media is preferred.
