Manuscript Cataloging Internship
Sharlot Hall Museum Library and Archives
Prescott, Arizona
Summer 2006

The Sharlot Hall Museum in Prescott, Arizona, is offering a paid manuscript
cataloging internship for students in history and library science. The
Sharlot Hall Museum Library and Archives collects, preserves, and makes
available to the public historic materials relating to the Central Mountain
Region of Arizona with an emphasis on Prescott, Yavapai County, and Northern
Arizona. The Archives contains over 2,000,000 documents, 100,000
photographic images, 4,000 maps and a 5,000-volume library. Additional
information about the Museum can be found at www.sharlot.org/archives.

The paid internship will offer an opportunity to gain practical experience
in archival processing and cataloging as well as learning to assist
researchers in our reading room. The intern will be working primarily to
process, catalog, digitize and automate our collections online via the
Yavapai Library Network and Arizona Memory Project. Knowledge of MARC
formatting is strongly desired but not required. Responsibilities include
but are not limited to arrangement and description, cataloging, reference,
digitization, exhibition, and outreach.

The stipend for this internship is $3,000.00 to be paid in two weeks
installments. The individual selected will be expected to work 36 hours
per week for 10 weeks between the end of May and the end of August,
depending on individual availability. Successful candidates must provide
own room, board, and travel to Prescott. Interested applicants should submit
a resume and a letter of intent with references to Sharlot Hall Museum
Intern Search Committee, 415 W. Gurley Street, Prescott, AZ 86301. Please,
no e-mail or fax applications. Applications must be received by April 29,
2005. Questions? Contact Ryan Flahive, Archivist at [log in to unmask] or
