Actually, its a lift, not a left.

Also "I'm wild about my flat" is nothing to do with a car (sorry auto!)
breaking down on the road (sorry, highway!) due to tyre (sorry,
tire!) failure.  It translates into American as "I'm very excited
about my apartment".

But wait a minute: who's language is it anyway?!

And incidentally, "keeper" is probably the best literal translation of the
French, German, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese (and other) versions of
"curator".
