First, I want to thank everyone who responded to my posting about discovery
rooms. Your information has been extremely helpful and has really added to
my notes for the presentation.

A couple of follow up thoughts:
* I was really happy to see how many "non-science" museums had
Discovery Rooms. Personally, I think that especially in art and history
museums they have a special place. I would be interested to hear your
thoughts on how to incorporate a hands-on space without causing the
confusion that was mentioned in an earlier email between what is all right
to touch and what is not.
* Furthermore, as someone with a science background and someone who
has been somewhat scared off by art and history in the past...I think I
would greatly benefit from a discovery room in this type of museum; which
brings me to my next question...are there discovery rooms geared to adults
and if so, what types of activities work.
* I will be offering suggestions for how to create a discovery room
if the budget is very small. What is absolutely necessary, what can be done
for less money, etc. I would love your thoughts on that as well.
* Finally, I absolutely appreciate the comment about going to see
discovery rooms for ideas. I had already started a list of museums with
discovery rooms to hand out so that people from the presentation can visit.
If you know of others that haven't already been posted on this list,
especially in CA, I will surely add them to my list.

Again, thank you and I will be sure to post the outline from my presentation
and any reference materials that I hand out.

Jennifer
