HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS: SURVIVING THE BIG ONE
http://tinyurl.com/8fmj8

There is no way to guarantee the survival of your institution in a
hurricane. There are, however, steps that can be taken before the storm
hits that can increase the chances of survival and minimize devastating
damage. There are also steps that can be taken after the storm has
passed that can accelerate recovery and minimize loss of collections.

This one-day class will focus on the following:

*The nature of hurricanes: are they survivable?
*General issues in developing a disaster plan *Making your institution
more storm-proof *Activities before, during, and after the storm
*Available assistance

Intended audience: This class is essential for librarians, archivists,
and curators responsible for disaster planning or recovery; plant and
support staff responsible for assisting in disaster preparation efforts;
administrators, directors, and others responsible for approval or
implementation of disaster plans.

Location and Time: North Carolina State University, D. H. Hill Library,
Raleigh, NC, Friday, June 17th, 9am to 4pm

Cost: $145 for SOLINET members, $185 for non-members. Early-bird
discounts and late fees may apply. Any registrant within the host state
qualifies for the member rate. Be sure to choose the "member rate"
option when registering online to ensure proper billing.
