Course Description
This course is intended to serve as an introduction to the role of museums
in learning communities and teaches students how to develop more effective
and interesting educational programs. Specifically, students will be
introduced to several learning theories and motivational strategies that can
be applied towards the design of educational programs for museums and other
non-profit organizations. This is an online course with supplemental texts.
Many of the assignments will include online readings and activities.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
Students will:
Upon completion of this course, students will:

* Demonstrate an understanding of the roles that museums can serve in a
learning community.

* Accurately demonstrate an understanding of Behavioral learning theories,
Social Cognitive Theory, Information Processing Theory, Cognitive Learning
Processes, Constructivism, Motivation in instruction, and Content-Area
Learning.

* Complete the final project by successfully developing a mock instructional
program for a museum.
