I have found that using Idenat-pens by Pigma are much much better for object labeling.  They have a fine and extra fine point and last quite a while.  They work on all surfaces and are easy to remove with the correct solvent.  If you want to continue to use the Micron's, I would suggest that you store them upside down (cap down).  It helps to keep the ink at the point.  Also, try to stay away from the very fine tips, they dry out faster.
