Reminder - There is still time to submit a session proposal for the 2009
AASLH Annual Meeting, August 26-29 in Indianapolis, IN. This year's theme
is Making History a 21st-Century Enterprise.

The days of museums as "cabinets of curiosity" are gone. To succeed in our
increasingly fastpaced,

technology-saturated society, we must embrace new models of operation.
Remembering

from 2007 that relevance equals the bottom line and from 2008 the power of
transformation,

we envision becoming centers for ideas and inspiration-cultural
entrepreneurs. The 2009

AASLH Annual Meeting in Indianapolis, Indiana, will explore the place of
entrepreneurship

within the field-marrying fresh concepts with our mission as stewards of the
past.

Proposals for sessions for the 2009 AASLH Annual Meeting should focus on
innovation in

developing, marketing, and delivering our product, building audience, and
strengthening

sustainability. What can we learn from your institution, and others you know
of, that are

working to:

1) Re-invent itself for today's world as a cultural entrepreneur?

2) Become a center for ideas and inspiration rather than cabinets of
curiosities?

3) Leverage its strength as a keeper of historical truth and authenticity?

4) Deliver a new "experience"?

5) Connect personal and community histories to larger themes?

6) Connect new audiences with its site, collections, and intellectual
resources?

7) Market and promote itself creatively?

8) Build community and be a player in social changes?

Proposals must be submitted on a Call for Proposals form by November 1 7.
You may

submit the form via email, fax, or mail. For more information, or obtain a
copy of the Call

for Proposals form, visit www.aaslh.org/2009-annual-meeting or contact
