Deb,

If your historical society is a member of AAM you can request copies of
sample collections policies and other documents through the Information
Center on their website. All you need to do is email them with information
about your site and they will send you samples that reflect your
institution. The museum I work for is currently reviewing all of our
policies and this has been a big help to us. Good luck!

Julie

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] Comprehensive Collections Policy

The Historical Society that I work for is currently revising our collections
policy. Our current policy has information regarding the accession,
deaccession, loans of objects, etc. The current policy reflects our museum
and archival collections, but we also have a library collection, oral
history collection and folklife collections that we want to include in the
new policy. Does anybody have a good example of a collections policy that
incorporates a variety of collections like this?

Thanks
Deb Rose Van Horn
