Curator
The University of Maryland School of Nursing is currently recruiting
for a part-time temporary Curator to direct activities concerned with
instructional, interpretive, collections care, research, and public
service objectives of our museum. The selected candidate will oversee
curatorial, personnel, fiscal, technical, research and clerical
functions.
Responsibilities for this position include coordinating the Docent
Program, developing and organizing collections to improve our
educational and research facilities, upholding administrative policies
of the museum, increasing awareness and appreciation of our collection
through educational programs, lectures, docent training, exhibitions,
museum publications, and other professional activities.
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field with at least two
years of relevant experience in a museum or historical collections
setting. Knowledge of the preservation of collections, including
environmental concerns, proper handling practices, and treatments,
skill in the artful, effective and accurate presentation of objects
and collections, knowledge of major trends in the history and current
state of the collections' subject matter, skill in standard computer
applications software, effective organizational skills and excellent
oral and written communications skills are required. Experience in an
academic health care environment a plus!
