World War II Provenance Research Seminar:
A New Era of Collaboration and Digitized Resources
May 6-7
United States National Archives
Washington, DC

Learn of the Latest Progress in This Important Field

Join us for a two-day seminar focused on the recent progress made to increase access to materials pertaining to cultural objects looted during the Second World War. This program coincides with the public launch of a Web portal linking researchers to archival materials from the United States National Archives, the German Bundesarchiv, the National Archives of the United Kingdom and several other international partners.

Become empowered to increase awareness of, familiarity with and access to new resources and strategies for provenance research, current international collaborative projects and newly accessible electronic tools.

Stimulating and Substantive

Seminar sessions include

* The presentation of the Web portal to attendees, familiarizing them with the descriptions of records from participating repositories and digital images of the records themselves.

Representatives of important art historical archival repositories presenting other resources, newly digitized records and plans for future projects.

* Learn from experts in provenance research on utilizing these materials, recent and on-going research projects and recommendations for new approaches and systematic strategies for museum collection research.

* Among the outstanding speakers are Nancy H.Yeide, National Gallery of Art and author of Beyond the Dreams of Avarice: The Hermann Goering Collection
Greg Bradsher, U.S. National Archives and author of Holocaust-Era Assets: A Finding Aid to Records at the National Archives; and Lynn H. Nicholas, author of The Rape of Europa.
