JOB ANNOUNCEMENT POSTING

RESERVATIONIST

The Historical Society of Washington seeks a full time Reservationist for
the City Museum. The Reservationist is responsible for booking school and
adult group visits to the museum and maintaining the master schedule for
all activities, including public programs, special events, and facilities
use by outside organizations.

The City Museum opens to the public May 16, 2003 in the renovated Carnegie
Library Building in downtown Washington.

SUMMARY OF WORK: The Reservationist books visits for all group programs –
schools, adults, camps. This involves responding to incoming calls and
inquiries for school and group tours, answering questions and explaining
program offerings if need be, booking program space and staff, and
confirming arrangements by phone, email or mail.
The Reservationist also handles reservations for lectures and other
programs and maintains the master schedule for all activities taking place
at the City Museum or under its sponsorship. The position works with staff
across the organization, particularly with public programs and special
events staff. The Reservationist is a member of the Department of Programs
and reports to the Vice President for Programs.

QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a well-organized individual with
strong communications and computer skills. Excellent telephone skills are
a must; the Reservationist is the first point of contact for group leaders
and needs to be professional and customer-oriented. Database experience is
preferred; experience with Vista or other scheduling software is definitely
a plus.

As a member of the professional staff, should be able to work occasional
evenings or weekend days.

SALARY: Based on experience.

TO APPLY: Please email letter, resume and minimum salary requirements
to [log in to unmask] or fax to 202 887-5785. For additional information
about the City Museum, visit the Historical Society’s website at
www.hswdc.org
