I agree, they sound like lithography plates.

Bronwen,

Is the metal copper?

These sure sound like copper plate photographs used for printing.

Cheers,

The Buggy Museum received two items that are a mystery for us. Can anyone help? They are wooden blocks, 7/8" depth, different height and length. They have flat metal plates nailed to the block. The metal has an image, but it is a negative image and we can identify the men. But since this is out of my area, I don't know if these are negatives? Tintypes? They are different from all other negatives and tintypes that we currently have in our collection. I can send photos to anyone off list if you can help.
