Greetings,

When we have overlapping data collection for evaluation projects, we use small colored sticker dots to help identify visitors who have participated in cued evaluation activities (surveys, interviews, think alouds) to try and avoid sampling the same visitor twice. Right now they are just basic office supply stickers (about the size of a nickel). They are not designed for clothing so frequently fall off; they can be difficult to see due to their size, and visitors may be slightly self conscious about donning a random dot. We're considering investing in something larger and brighter, and includes a message that communicates to other visitors, as well as our staff, that someone has participated in evaluation activities at the museum. Kind of along the same lines as the "I voted" stickers people get at polling places.

Does anyone on this list currently use this type of identifying sticker method? Do you have text on the sticker? What does it say? Where do you source your stickers (we want the type that are designed for clothing so they don't ruin fabric if they accidently go through the wash)? Or, do you have other methods to avoid double sampling?

I have cross posted this on the Visitor Studies List Serve

Thank you in advance,

Turn on the science: Inspire learning. Inform policy. Improve lives.

National Parks Adventure , now showing at the Science Museum's William L. McKnight-3M Omnitheater, is a stunning giant screen tour of more than 25 of our nation's most celebrated parks. Experience Yellowstone, Yosemite, the Everglades, the Grand Canyon, and more as you've never experienced them before - on the only screen big enough to reveal their beauty and majesty. Variety magazine wrote that the film, narrated by Robert Redford, is a "stirring celebration of the United States' true treasures. "
