Hi Brian,
Sorry if this comes off as overly simplistic but this is how we keep track
of attendance.  We use one of those hand operated push button clickers that
the person at the front desk uses to count.  At then end of the day the
total is written in on that day on a calendar that is kept at the front
desk.  Hope this helps.
