Today, a nation . . . a world . . . remembers something too difficult to forget. We know what that is, it's all over the media, it's everywhere you look.

But there are people on this list who shouldn't be forgotten, people who lived and worked in and around New York, in DC, in Pennsylvania, who were most directly affected. I know. In the days thereafter, I remember talking to some of you. I heard your stories and that which you were able to share. The memories were tragic and painful. You had to find your way home in the middle of chaos and disaster. You had to go by buildings that were no longer there and deal with the smoke and pollution for months to come. You lost friends and, perhaps, for a moment, you lost grounding.

Know that you, too, are heroes, the silent ones, who went on with life and put on a face for the betterment of us all. Know that you probably suffered the effects of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and, as the anniversary is revisited and plastered everywhere, you may again be reminded of some of those effects: http://mayoclinic.com/health/post-traumatic-stress-disorder/DS00246

You are remembered this day. May you have the strength and grace to survive yet another reminder, and may you find peace in knowing you, too, are remembered.

  Bless you!
