POSITION DESCRIPTION
 
PROGRAM ASSISTANT
Temporary Position 
 
Heritage Preservation, a national nonprofit organization in Washington,
DC, is seeking an intelligent, energetic assistant for administrative
and program work on emergency and other collections care initiatives.
Responsibilities include handling logistics for meetings of the Heritage
Emergency National Task Force (www.heritageemergency.org
<http://www.heritageemergency.org/> ) and maintaining communications
with members; providing administrative support for a new pilot project
to help museums prepare for disasters; coordinating marketing activities
for key publications; organizing and maintaining program files; and
other duties as assigned. 
 
The ideal candidate will be well organized and detail-oriented with
excellent communications and computer skills. Previous office
experience, knowledge of Filemaker or a similar database program, good
writing ability, and an interest in preserving cultural heritage are
preferred. Experience with meeting management or marketing will be a
plus.
 
The grant-funded position is temporary for a minimum of seven months
with the possibility of extension. Salary is competitive for an entry
level position; please let us know your requirements. Benefits are
excellent and include a $40/month MetroCheck. Heritage Preservation will
not cover relocation costs.
