Purpose of Position

This position is responsible for the overall management of collections
storage including ensuring safe and appropriate locations for all works, the
recording of those locations and the safe movement of collection and loan
objects to and from collections storage. This position will catalog art
objects, create digital photographs, manage the collections database, and
complete collection inventories. This position must have knowledge of standard
museum principles, practices and procedures for collections management and
registration. 



This position is a Pay Band 55.

Minimum
Qualifications: 

Associate’s Degree in Art
History or other area of specialization such as Museum Studies, Museology,
Conservation Science, Anthropology, or History; and one (1) year supervised
experience working with museum artifacts/collections. Any combination of education
from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct
experience in this occupation totaling three (3) years may substitute for the
required education and experience. 

 

Working
Conditions:

Candidate
must have the ability to lift at least 25 lbs, sit and stand for long periods,
work at a computer for an extended time, work with the public in a professional
businesslike manner and travel when needed. Candidate must have the ability to
work weekends, holidays, and evenings as necessary. Candidate must have the
ability to visually inspect artwork.
