Hi Susan,
We also do not charge admission to the museum. We do have several "memberships" that our patrons can join. They basically entitles them to a newsletter twice a year and advance notices on upcoming events along with a 10% discount to our giftshop.

We also have a research membership which entitles the researcher the same above benefits along with as many questions as they can ask me in a year :) and a flat fee for all xerox copies. (we have a fee schedule for copies, scans, usage fees, etc.)

Our office manager handles all the memberships including sending out yearly renewal notices. We do it throughout the year so everyone renews on their anniversary date.
Hope that helps.
Debra

The Mission of the Still National Osteopathic Museum is to collect, preserve, and make available artifacts and related materials to communicate the history and philosophy about the osteopathic principles of mind, body and spirit to a global audience.

Good Monday morning everybody,
The administration of our small, local history focused museum is considering setting up a ..friends of.. type membership initiative. We do not charge admission to the museum so our benefits would be limited to things like advance notice on upcoming programs and the thrill of supporting such a worthwhile endeavor. I am looking for advice or words of wisdom from those who have already gone through this process..maybe issues to look out for or avoid and also must do type things for the administrative framework. Any information you can provide will be appreciated.
