*2008 Olmsted County History Center Summer Internship* 
 
 
The Olmsted County History Center will be conducting an inventory of its  three-dimensional (3D) collection as part of its commitment to the  Rochester Area Foundation (RAF) grant.  This internship will place an  emphasis on collections management practice.  There will also be  opportunities to gain experience in exhibit planning and installation. 
 
 
The supervisor, the Curator of Collections, will discuss with the Intern  the necessary requirements for fulfilling the internship.  What does the  History Center need to provide you to receive the necessary credits from  your university? 
 
 
The main project of the Summer Internship will be an inventory of the  tool collections.  The inventory will focus on these key issues: 
 
 
·         What is this artifact?  Is the label and catalog information  accurate? 
 
·         Is this artifact necessary for the collection?  How is the  artifact relevant to the local history of Olmsted County? 
 
·         Provide a critique of collections management involving these  artifacts. 
 
At the end of the internship, the intern will be responsible for writing  an online exhibit on the tool collection.  This internship is unpaid.
