Job Title
2016-158 , Exhibits Coordinator at Conservation Headquarters, Jefferson City
Salary Range
Salary Range: $45,588 - $80,484
Beginning Salary: $45,588 - $52,284 depending upon qualification.
Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinates with Department staff the design, planning, installation and production of non-personal interpretive exhibits; develops interpretive concepts and specifications; is involved in the bidding process and manages all aspects of external contracts relating to the design and development of large-scale exhibits for Conservation Education Nature Centers and Interpretive sites; develops and leads internal team efforts in the planning of interpretive projects; presents sessions at workshops and conferences relating to interpretation and environmental education; supervises the Missouri Department of Conservation exhibit shop, including reviewing the products and services it provides for quality, efficiency and practicality; develops annual budget request and is accountable for expenditures associated with exhibits; collaborates with other divisions as necessary to refine exhibit products and services; provides leadership to and supervises Exhibits Shop staff including development and periodic review of annual work plans and conducting performance appraisals; serves as part of Outreach and Education leadership team in the development, implementation and cross-media marketing of agency strategic issues; coordinates State Fair exhibits and check out of portable exhibits for other regional fairs and events; recommends and develops brochures, publications, and exhibits for events; coordinates and assists field staff as well as agencies, municipalities, and organizations with planning for regional interpretation, education, and recreation facilities and programs; and performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Interpretation, Education, Biology, Zoology, Botany, Forestry, Outdoor Recreation or closely related area and four (4) years professional experience in interpretation, resource management, nature center direction or related work, two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Ability Requirements
Ability to:
Evaluate and analyze Division programs and develop recommendations for improvement.
Operate a motor vehicle and have or obtain a Missouri Driver License by date of employment.
Coordinate administrative and management activities to achieve Division and Department goals.
Give overall guidance and direction to staff and assure their programs are properly carried out in achieving an efficient and productive operation.
Effectively communicate both orally and in writing to subordinates, other Department personnel and the general public.
Occasionally work varied hours including Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays.
Work outside in hot and cold temperatures.
Exemption Status/Special Notes
This position has been determined to be exempt according to the Fair Labor Standards Act. Employees must agree to accept compensatory time off in lieu of cash payments in accordance with the Department's Compensatory Time Off and Overtime policy.

Smoking is prohibited in all owned, rented or leased Department of Conservation offices, buildings, and similar facilities, in Department aircraft, and in vehicles.

The Department of Conservation will hire only United States citizens and aliens authorized to work in the United States. All new employees will be required to complete an "Employment Eligibility Verification" (Form I-9) and produce requested documentation after employment.

Candidates seeking initial employment or re-employment must submit to a drug screen following offer of employment.

All persons employed with the state of Missouri shall file all state income tax forms and pay all state income taxes owed.
