I like the Met and the Museum of Natural History in New York, the Louvre
in Paris and the National Museum in Naples because, despite brave
attempts, they still resist anything like cohesive design. They sprawl
and meander and have a life of their own. Good museum design may, like
life, be what happens when you're busy making other plans.
