The Decorative Arts Trust is now accepting applications for our 2020-2022 Curatorial Internship Grants, 2020 Exhibition and Publication Grants, and 2019 Summer Research Grants!

Curatorial Internship Grant (https://decorativeartstrust.org/emerging-scholars-programs-overview/curatorial-internship-grants/)

The Decorative Arts Trust is now accepting applications for two 24-month Curatorial Internship Grants. The Trust’s Internship Grants provide critical employment opportunities for emerging museum professionals at qualified institutions.  This is a two-year challenge grant of up to $30,000 per year. The intern will receive from the Trust an additional $2,500 in funding per year to offset the cost of travel related to research and professional development programs. Potential museum and historical society collaborators should apply by September 30, 2019. The application packet must consist of a formal letter of interest describing the nature of the project(s) in which the intern will be involved during the two-year period and identifying the staff member who will supervise and mentor the intern; a statement of how the institution plans to raise matching funds for the intern’s salary over the two years; the supervisor’s CV; and pertinent background information related to
particular initiatives, exhibitions, or research related to the intern’s planned projects.  Images and a draft of a job description are strongly encouraged.  Please note that mentorship is a significant consideration in this program.  The Trust's selection will be announced by October 31, with grant funds available as early as January 1, 2020.

Failey Exhibition and Publication Grants (https://decorativeartstrust.org/failey-grant/)

Named in honor of the Decorative Arts Trust’s late board member Dean F. Failey, a noted scholar of Long Island material culture, Failey Grants support noteworthy research, exhibition, and publication projects in the field of American decorative arts. For 2020, the Trust will award Failey Grants up to $10,000. Organizations wishing to apply for consideration must submit a letter of inquiry by October 31, 2019. The letter must describe the nature of the project and its impact on the field. Please include CV’s for the project’s primary curator,  author, and/or researcher as well as a project budget. Special consideration will be given to projects that employ or are led by young professionals in the museum field. The Trust's selection will be announced by November 30, with grant funds available as early as January 1, 2020.

Summer Research Grants (https://decorativeartstrust.org/emerging-scholars-programs-overview/summer-research-grants/)
The Decorative Arts Trust is accepting applications for our 2019 Summer Research Grants. Each year the Trust awards at least five research grants to graduate students working on a Master’s thesis or PhD dissertation in a fields related to the decorative arts. Grants range from $500-$1,000. More information, as well as descriptions of past grant projects, can be found on our website.

In partnership with other organizations the Trust also offers grants for topics with a particular focus:

* Marie Zimmermann Grant: Sponsored by the Marie & John Zimmermann Fund, these grants are allocated to projects that focus on late-19th and 20th-century topics.
* DARTS Grant: Sponsored by the Decorative Arts Society of Orange County, these grants are allocated for students pursuing a topic based on objects, collections, crafts, or designers located on the West Coast or students enrolled at a West Coast based graduate program
* Center for American Art Grant: Sponsored by the Philadelphia-based Center for American Art, these grants are awarded to projects that incorporate objects in the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s American fine and decorative art collections.
