DATE OF APPOINTMENT:  15 August 1995
RANK: Assistant Professor
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Tenure-track positions for 3 biologists with
  background in above 3 primary areas. Areas of research specialization
  and secondary expertise are open.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach introductory biology, one or more courses in
  areas of primary and secondary expertise. Supervise M.S. students in
  departmental graduate program. Advise undergraduates and contribute
  service to University. For positions 1 and 2, curation of respective
  collection (Associate Curator) in the Sternberg Museum of Natural
  History is desired
QUALIFICATIONS: Earned Ph.D. in the biological sciences, emphasizing
  primary area. Teaching experience and evidence of scholarly activity
  required. Requires strong communicative skills, a commitment to
  excellence in teaching, the ability to interact professionally with a
  diversity of other biologists, and ability to acquire research funding.
  Experience in museum curation is desirable.
SALARY:  competitive
DEPARTMENT: The Department of Biological Sciences and Allied Health has
  19 full-time and 2 part-time faculty members representing the
  disciplines of biology, botany, zoology, natural resource management,
  medical technology, and medical diagnostic imaging systems. In addition
  to an M.S. degree in biology, the department offers the B.S. degree,
  one A.S. degree program, and two pre-professional degree programs.
  Resources include a scanning electron microscope, excellent computing
  facilities, laboratories, a greenhouse, and a live-animal housing
  facility. Several faculty members are Associate Curators of various
  collections in the Sternberg Museum of Natural History.
UNIVERSITY: F.H.S.U. is a state-supported, liberal and applied arts
  institution governed by the Kansas Board of Regents and serves
  primarily western Kansas. Nearly 6,000 students are enrolled in four
  colleges (Arts and Sciences, Business, Education, and Health and Life
  Sciences) and a Graduate School, which have a combined total of about
  340 full-time faculty members. The campus is modern, and attractive,
  and has outstanding museums, galleries, and cultural and recreational
  facilities. The Kansas State University Agricultural Research Center -
  Hays, is adjacent to the campus.
COMMUNITY: The population of Hays is about 17,000, and is located about
  midway between Kansas City and Denver on I-70. It is a regional center
  serving the cultural, health, education, business, service, and
  transportation needs of much of western Kansas.
