Lucky girl! I suggest you get yourself a copy of Rachel Kaplan's "Little Known Museums in and around London." Some of my favorites are:

Bethnal Green Children's Museum--they'll be wonderfully decorated for the holidays
Another vote for the Geffrye--and along those lines, while you're in north London visiting Bethnal Green and Kenwood, check out the recently opened Museum of Domestic Architecture. Another recent arrival on the scene is the Handel Museum, which just opened and is furnished as it
was when occupied by the composer.

Venturing south you could go to Chiswick and Hampton Court, and if you're interested in Robert Adam, don't miss Osterley. And if you can fit it in, do head to Oxford. There you can visit the Ashmolean and Blenheim Palace, and I also would check out Waddesdon Manor. Stay a night
at the Five Arrows Inn there, or at least have a meal. I would check the hours in advance, though, as a lot of National Trust properties are "put to bed" in the winter.

As far as London restaurants go, take yourself to Quaglino's (just behind the Ritz) for a real treat; have tea at Fortnum and Mason's, and visit the Terence Conran restaurants and design stores in Chelsea.

Have a wonderful trip!

All best,
