  Subject: Appraisal events

In conjunction with several exhibitions of contemporary printmaking we
have on view, we are hosting our first-ever appraisal event at the end of
June wherein we are asking members of the public with any kind of print to
come in and get it examined and valuated by experts, including a
conservation assessment. We are not charging admission for this event--we
want people to come in so we can educate them about prints and printmaking.
The free "appraisals" are pretty much the hook to get them through the
doors. I am learning much about how to run an event like this, and my
experts are making me aware of the numerous legalities involved. Which
brings me to my question...

Could anyone on the list who has operated an appraisal event please send
me (via land mail, FAX or email attachment) a sample of the disclaimer you
used to inform the public that the valuations being given were for
entertainment purposes only and were not to be used as an official
appraisal? Does anyone have a sample from the Antiques Roadshow they can
FAX to me? Addresses are below.

Any other advice about operating an appraisal event, from bitter
experience if need be, is welcome. Thanks in advance!
