I believe the AAM accreditation process is one of that organization's
greatest services. From personal experience, I can observe that if an
institution has its ducks in a row and has adopted intelligent, reasonably
practical plans, then accreditation is worth going after without undue
worry.  I suspect many museums simply put off the process out of
uncertainty; far too many don't even seek accreditation.
