Most mold and other fungal spores, as well as bacterial spores survive -20 deg. C with ease.

I agree that you should probably freeze these objects for 2 weeks prior to
introducing them into your collection. While metals are generally safefrom
mold and pests, the dust that has accumulated on their surface (which is
generally biological) can become a great host. It is a good idea to get
these items cleaned as soon as possible, not just for the safetly of your
collection but also for the safety of the workers. I would stay away from
fumegation as that leads to all sorts of other problems. A good 2 week
freeze at -20 C will take care of most problems prior to removing the dirt
and dust. This can be accomplished with almost any standard chest style
freezer, so it isn't a huge cost for most museums and institutions to
invest in one. Watch any organic objects though as freezing without proper
preparation can lead to damage.
