I second Max's recommendation of Beck & Cable and Falk & Dierking. I also
(still) find Freeman Tilden's Interpreting Our American Heritage both
inspirational and practical. AAM has published a sourcebook on Exemplary
Interpretation which is available from their bookstore - and there is some
documentation of their National Intpretation Project online at:
http://www.aam-us.org/NIPoverview.htm that I also found useful.
