*MUSEUM REGISTRAR*



The *Museum Registrar* is responsible for the physical care and
documentation of the Museum artifact and art collections (owned and on
loan).



*Exhibits*: Some phases of Museum exhibitions including:  arrangement of
transport for all exhibitions to and from the Museum.  Work with borrowing
institution on shipping of traveling exhibitions. Assist with installation
of artwork and artifacts, and some mount making is required



*Artifacts and Collections:  *Coordinate accessioning and cataloging of
artifacts, including numbering, inventory, and digitizing. Write and send
all thank you letters and deeds of accession to donors.  Create and retain
donation records and collection data in the collection management
database.  Complete and maintain condition reports on all artifacts and
artwork in the Museum’s collections and items loaned to the Museum through
traveling exhibitions. House artifacts and artwork using proper storage
practices. Environmental and pest monitoring of exhibit and storage areas.



*Other: *Train, coordinate and supervise interns involved in the Exhibition
and Collection Department. Responsible for updating the collections
management policy. In addition, with input from all museum departments,
registrar is responsible for updating the Museum’s Emergency Preparedness
Handbook.



Position requires:

   - Strong verbal and written communication skills
   - Ability to multi-task
   - Ability to take initiative
   - Effective supervision of volunteers
   - Timely follow-through
   - High level of organization
   - Sensitivity to issues of racism/intolerance and Holocaust survivorship
   - Familiarity with Microsoft Office, databases and other computer
   programs
   - Proficient in Collections Management software, especially KE Emu
   - Ability to lift 30 lbs. and climb ladders.



*Supervision:  *The Museum Registrar works under the general supervision of
the Curator of Exhibitions and Collections



*Education:  *BA degree in Museum Studies required



*Experience:  *Three years of experience with Museum collections and
exhibits.
