50th Anniversary: 'Star Trek'
Science-fiction has always been an inspiration to scientists, as well as to lay people. Television's greatest science-fiction franchise marks an important milestone. The world premiere of Star Trek, atthe beginning of the 1966-1967 television season, occurredprecisely 50 years ago - Sept. 6 in Canada, then the American premiere came two days later - due to the varying schedules of the world's television networks.
